                                     Credit Repair

If you are having trouble getting credit with various companies we advise getting a free complimentary copy of your credit report from a credit bureau. TRW will issue a free copy of your credit report if you write them a letter and claim that you are "unemployed and seeking employment within the next 60 days," or that you believe there are "fraudulent marks on your credit report," or if you have been "denied credit." We do not recommend having a "credit fixing" company take care of these problems for you. Most bad marks on your credit report can be fixed through your own efforts if the creditors do not have "full and accurate" information proving beyond any reasonable doubt that you personally have owed them money. If their information / proof is not legally accurate then the Fair Credit Act of the Federal Trade Commission may help you remove these marks. If your negative marks are not errors and the creditors do have accurate information then they basically take time to mend.

From the research that we have done we have found that many marks on peoples credit report are removed (whether or not a person actually owes a company money) soley on the bases that these companies do not keep accurate legal proof of the debt.  It is to your advantage to insure that the collection agencies reporting information on you to the credit bureaus actually have accurate legal proof of their claim otherwise they have no legal right to report this debt to the credit bureaus.

Credit bureaus will offer to ask the collection agencies if they have accurate information on a particular debt but they are often satisfied by an electronic or verbal "yes" by a collection agency.  Rather than asking the credit bureau to verify this accuracy, it is far better to contact the collection agency directly and have them send you a copy of this "proof" so that you can see it for your own eyes.   You have the right to see this and the collection agency reporting information to the credit bureau has the obligation to only report items that they have accurate proof of (see sectoin 623 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act).  Click here to read the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
